Debbie suggest using a lightweight interfacing or pellon
on the back of the embroidery.
Something I've never tried before.
Makes for smooth stitches.
And no thread shadows.
I'll definitely be using her technique again.

And now for my bargain.
Carpet cutting blades from Freight Harbor.
They fit my Olfa 45 mm rotary cutter
and cut cotton fabric like butter.
The cost....drumroll please....
$1.99 a pack.
In fact, I picked mine up yesterday at the store
and they were on sale for $1.49 per pack.
Sew, let's see $6.99 OR $1.00 per blade.
I can change blades 7 times for the same cost.
Give them a try and
let me know what you think....
I see no draw backs.
Yet.
Oh, and I celebrated a birthday last week.
Lordy, don't make me say which one.

Here is my NO CALORIES birthday cake.
Just Beautiful.
Thank you Peggy Sue.

Thank you Peggy Sue.
And now I need to rant a little.
Yesterday, hubby and I went to the movies.
Saw The Fighter,
with Christian Bale & Mark Walburg.
Great movie. Mark is such a hunk.
But I digress.....
It's the COST of admission and snacks!
Afternoon senior price $7.50 each.
We splurged and shared one
soda and popcorn for $12.50.
Shared, being the key word here.
Total $27.50.
That's a lot of Red Box movies
and pop corn let me tell ya.
I know some movies need to be seen on the BIG screen.
Avatar, being one.
But really.
Who will be able to afford to go to the movies before long?
Forget families.
Okay, I'm over it.
Hugs and Valentine Kisses.

Belated birthday wishes - hope it was a good one.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the head's up on the adorable embroidery pattern.
Are you seriously happy with the blades from Harbor Freight? What a major bargain. :-)
I'm so glad I live in a small town with a theater that the owners are more interested in getting you in. It's $4.50 to $6 to get in and a large bucket of popcorn is $6 with free refills! And they have the up to date movies playing. I never go anywhere else.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday! That pattern is adorable and those blades...what a great find. Thanks for sharing the tip!
ReplyDeleteLove you Karen! Another beautiful post! The movies cost us $40.00 last time..... $18.00 to get in and around $23.00 for soda & popcorn- crazy!!!!! Love the new pattern - I need a printer so badly....

ReplyDeleteThank you for the tip on the blades. Went and ordered some.
As always, your quilting is
fabulous!
LOVE, LOVE your new banner! And the block is just the cutest.
ReplyDeleteNancy was just here yesterday....your name was brought up dearie. I told her to go check out your sweet blog!
Hello, happy to find your fun blog. I think I signed on as a follower, but am not positive. I thought you would show up in my Google Reader but you didn't, so I added you there. If I don't get a post or the darling pattern in my e-mail I will know it didn't work and try again. I am looking forward to doing the teacups as I love redwork...and teacups. I do have a question... How are you liking your bargain rotary blades now that you have had a chance to use them? I need to go check our store and see if they still have them. What a deal! Thanks...
ReplyDeleteThe towel looks great and lovely!
ReplyDeleteI'll be checking out that store for the blades next time I'm headed for Massachusetts (our closest one). Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteMark Walburg.....dreamy hunk....he should ALWAYS have his shirt off in movies! I'm just sayin!
I'm a movie snob....can't stand to have people talking or making any noise....so we haven't gone to the movies in years....only dvds now. Sorry the price has gotten so out of control. Can't imagine why they charge so much....are these the really nice theaters with the seats that stagger up, so you never are looking at someone's head? We don't have them here, but I went to one in CA before we moved....it was pretty nice! But still not worth so much money! I guess I should be rethinking the big screen tv my hubby wants so badly. Hmmmmmm.
