I Need Your Prayers......

I had a heart attack!

Hard to believe.
Last Saturday I awoke around 4 a.m.
to a feeling of pressure in the middle of my chest.
Like someone was holding a 10 lb weight on me.
Indigestion from the previous night's dinner I thought.
I got up, took some medicine, and tried to go back to sleep.
Didn't work.
By mid morning my left arm felt "weird".
No shooting pains. No sweats. No nausea.
In fact, I went into my studio and loaded a quilt!
But, by 10 or so I "just knew" something wasn't right.
Mike said enough was enough and off we went.

I told the ER Doc that I was sure it was something I ate.
And he said he was sure it wasn't.
They ran some tests and decided to admit me.
My enzyme levels were up and that wasn't good.
First thing Monday morning they performed a
diagnostic catherzation.
After which they decided I need open heart by pass surgery.
How scary does that sound?
I'm petrified!

My Uncle came and took Aunt Polly back to Michigan for a few months.
Time for me to recover.
I'm suppose to stay stress free, and rest.
Right.

I have the best customers in the world!
I called and spoke with a few and they are
so understanding about the delay.
My quilting "sista's" are just a phone call away if I need help.
My sister, Robin, will be coming to visit
and I'll get to be the "bossy"older sister AGAIN...
just like the good old days.

My 2 sons and their families are coming to spend the today.

I need some Grandma kisses!

So please, please, add me and my family to your prayer list and

Keep me in your thoughts on Thursday.

  1. Karen,
You will be in my prayers. Pat told me at Guild on Tuesday about your upcoming surgery. I am so sorry this has happened to you. I hope the recovery goes by fast, and that I'll see you soon at Guild, or one of Pat's sew days!

    Take care, Andrea Shear

You will be up and around sooner than you know it. I will keep you in my thoughts as I don't do prayer. Many good thoughts coming your way.

  3. Oh my goodness! I will certainly pray for you. Can you talk on the phone? How many bypasses will you have? Many of my patients have had a CABG and Herb had four grafts about five years ago. I am thinking about you!

  7. Karen,

I can't believe this is happening to you. You're too young! Anyway, I will definitely be thinking about you. Hope your surgery and recovery go by fast and you can get back to doing what you love to do.

  8. Karen, we'll be praying and praying! Make sure you DO rest. And if you are able, we'll meet at Nellies. If it's too soon, just tell me what you might like and I'll get it for you, along with lots of photos. ((hugs))

    Blessings.. Polly

  9. Karen,
Please know that you and your family are in my prayers. My husband actually rushed me to the ER in Feb but tests showed PACs and that was it. I know how I felt then and can only imagine how you felt when it really did turn out to be your worst fear!
