Saturday Morning Sunshine

The sun is shining and all is right with the world!

Don't ya just love bright, sun shiny days?

My day lilies are in full bloom. Such a happy flower.

I love to photograph quilts outside in the morning sun.

The light really shows off the quilting details.

This is a customer quilt I finished yesterday.

It is called Oak Leaves & Reel by Moda, I believe.

Doesn't it look like applique?

And all those 1/2 square triangles in the border.

Well, it's a pre-printed panel! Yes, really.

How fast would that be to finish!

The meandering in the background really makes the applique "pop".

Beautiful colors. Wouldn't this be a gorgeous fall quilt?

Another Quilt in the making.....

Hi, it's been a busy week. Working on customer quilts and trying to get a little piecing done for myself. Here's a picture of the quilt I've started for my new granddaughter due this Fall.

It's called "Coventry" from the book Comfort & Joy by Brenda Riddle.

I love this book and wish I could piece every quilt in it!

But, there's just not enough hours in the day.

Floral stars on a pink & white background.

The stars are from a Robyn Pandolph fabric line a million years ago.

Do you need a good laugh? Well, sit down.

I'm going to show you my feet!

And the most comfortable shoes in the world.

So they look a little funny.

We stopped at the Outlet Mall on our way home Sunday and they have a Crocs store. I love Crocs! Hot pink & orange so summery. People will be able to see me coming from a mile away!

Off to enjoy the nice weather and rock awhile with hubby.

BUTTERFLY LOVE

Butterfly Quilts......my favorite

The muslin center of this quilt is vintage. The black lines are embroidered feather stitches.

I added the reproduction prints, pink fabric and black rick rack.

This vintage muslin quilt is a beauty.

Notice all the different shades of muslin in the background?

I washed it after quilting to get that wrinkled look.

I found the vintage butterfly blocks at an antique shop.
I set them with a small green print.
Love the traditional Baptist Fan border.



We are off to Tomah to visit the grand kids this weekend.
Hubby is golfing with "the boys" and I'm "catching up" with a dear friend.
Lunch and a little antiquing.....what more could a girl want?
Maybe I'll find another butterfly top to quilt!

A summer x-stitched pillow made years ago.

An old pump I found at an antique sale.

My old chair holds a geranium.
It did have blooms before the storms.
The wind chime is made from an old plate and blue glass.
Very vintage.
I love the mama bird feeding her babies.

Tea cup bird feeder. So easy to make.


My cup broke so I put a feeder ( bought at Michael's) on this one.
Just as cute, don't ya think?



The stone reads "It takes a long time to grow an old friend".

Retreat Projects

Here are pictures of the projects I worked on during our retreat.

I still have borders to put on and backings to find.

But at least I make some head way!

I'm still rethinking the UFO thing.

The first 2 photos are a customer's quilt. Hard to see the quilting.

I used a variegated thread. It really makes the quilt "pop".

Looks very contemporary.

Catch Up Time

I just want to take a minute to thank Polly from "Counting Your Blessings" for posting a link to
http://www.coloursforyou.blogspot.com/. It gives you all the information you need to redesign your blog. Step by step, hold your hand, kind of directions. Pretty nice huh? I love the pink & brown combo. And the free banner images from http://bannerofblessings.blogspot.com/ are so cute. I want to use them all! I feel so smart when I figure this computer stuff out. It's like one of Oprah's "light bulb" moments. I just won't tell you how much time it took. LOL.

I went on a quilt retreat this past weekend. A fun time was had by all. We had some great singng going on. The 7 of us (one gal was to young to know the words) belted out oldies from the 1950's & 60's. When was the last time you sang "Last Kiss" or "Going to the Chapel"? Believe me, we sounded just like the Supremes on some of the classics. Didn't we Rikki?

No photos. No camera. Can you believe I left it at home? Silly me. I will take pictures tomorrow of the projects I worked on. I did learn one BIG lesson (another O moment) all those UFO's from the early 1900's........I don't want to finish them. I want new/current fabrics and patterns. Just like the big girls have. I am feeling guilty for having a ton of UFO's. How many do you have? We won't even go into stash.......

The rain just isn't going to stop anytime soon. There is a "water issue" in our basement. Of course, it's in the finished studio area. We have sucked up the water and have fans and a de-humidifier going. Didn't we ask the last owners about any basement problems? And they said there were none....hmmmm.

I am busy working/quilting this week. Have some Las Vegas ladies waiting for a package from me. Wait to you see this funky raw edge applique I'm quilting on. Sooooo cute. Customer used black and brights. What a fun combination!
